Pastor
Pastor Aaron Johnson joined the staff of Resurrection Covenant Church in September of 2006. As the pastor, he is engaged in all aspects of the life of the church, helping to foster leadership and initiative among the congregation to carry out the church’s call to mission, community, and discipleship. Aaron is very passionate about leading the church to better understand our call as Christians who do justice and love kindness.
Before returning to school at North Park Theological Seminary, Aaron worked in several non-profit organizations in Chicago. Through this work, he became interested in community development and grassroots organizing. Having completed a master of social work in 1999, he was intrigued by the call to love our neighbor as ourselves and how that could and should be lived out in an urban context like Chicago. It is Aaron’s sincere desire that we as a church, and as Christian people, become fully rooted in our communities, living out the gospel for God’s glory and neighbor’s good.
Director of Worship and Creative Arts
Dave Bjorlin joined the staff of Resurrection Covenant Church in April of 2009. As the director of worship and creative arts, he leads the planning and implementing of Sunday morning worship with an emphasis on music. Dave believes strongly in a blended worship that uses the rich traditions of the historical Church (liturgies, hymns, confessions) as well as the continuing creativity of the people of God that is emerging within current Christian communities.
Intern of Christian Formation
Elise Brimhall joined the staff of Resurrection Covenant Church in June of 2011. As the intern of Christian Formation, Elise teams with others in the congregation in various ministries. She works with Food for Thought (a monthly forum to discuss a wide variety of topics), Table Topics (the church’s small group ministry), and Children’s ministry. Elise is passionate about people of all ages learning to not only admire Christ, but to emulate him in their daily lives.
Leadership Team
At ResCov, we operate on a Leadership Team model of governance. This model intends to be responsive and agile, empowering a small group of lay leaders to make decisions on a variety of routine matters related to the day-to-day operations of the church. Our hope is not that the leadership team will simply manage things from the top-down. While they do act as trustees of the church’s resources, their most important role is to inspire and excite growth from the entire community in our worship, discipleship, mission, and community. The members of the Leadership Team are elected to terms with a set number of years, and are affirmed in these positions by the entire membership of the church. Please feel free to call upon any of these individuals with questions, ideas, suggestions, or concerns.
The Leadership Team includes: Dan Booker, Aune Carlson, Bruce Lawson, Jon McFadyen, Jay Phelan, Erin Rodriguez, and Dena Wangberg (church chair).
